The Department of Housing is a major builder, home financier and land developer in Western Australia.

- The New Living Program is the largest urban renewal program ever undertaken in Western Australia. New Living is transforming parts of the metropolitan area, where old public housing stock is being renovated and refurbished and then offered for sale at modest prices to former tenants and home owners. New rental homes are then provided in other areas to bring about a better spread of public housing.
