Exclusive Use
9. A property, which has an extension or ‘granny
flat’ addition to house extended family members, will be retained for the
exclusive purpose of housing large family units.

9.1 Any reduction in the size of the family whereby the
additional accommodation is no longer required, will mean that the remaining
tenant/s will be required to transfer to alternate accommodation for which they
are eligible.
9.2 This is the same requirement as for the housing of
people with a disability, where purpose-built or modified accommodation is
provided.
9.3 An addendum to the tenancy agreement will be
required to be signed, agreeing to this requirement. This
states
I/We, the legal tenants of (address of property)
agree that the additional accommodation provided at the tenancy will be used to
house (names and relationships of additional family members) only. Should the
people named become deceased or leave the tenancy I/We agree to be transferred
to alternate accommodation. If I/We are no longer eligible for Homeswest
assistance at this time, I/We agree to vacate the tenancy.
9.4 On occupation of the extended family the current
tenancy will be finalised and a new tenancy at the same address commenced,
including the above tenancy clause condition.

Eligibility
10. Tenants applying for a ‘granny flat’ or
extension to house extended family must have had no significant breaches of
tenancy for a minimum of 12 months.

11. Extended family members to be housed must be
eligible for Homeswest assistance on all criteria.

12. Members of an extended family are regarded as full
members of the household and their income is calculated as part of the gross
household income for the purpose of a rental assessment.
