Occupational safety and health
Contractors working for the Department of Housing need to ensure they follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1984.
As a contractor you are required to familiarise yourself with all Legislative Requirements with regard to occupational health and safety.
The Department of Housing, along with all government agencies, has the long term aim of ensuring all buildings within its portfolio are free of asbestos containing material.
While working towards this goal the Department has an obligation to identify and manage asbestos containing materials as per the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996.
All work conducted on asbestos containing material must be undertaken in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Management and Control of Asbestos in Workplaces [NOHSC:2018 (2005)].
