The Department’s Director of Land and Housing Construction, Nigel Hindmarsh, said the $18 million Parkside development will deliver a variety of one, two and three bedroom homes to the market through the Department of Housing’s affordable sales program.

“These apartments will be attractive to young professionals and families seeking an affordable entry point into the housing market,” Mr Hindmarsh said.

“The project is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2015.”

The grouped dwelling development will include secure parking and storage for residents as well as extensive landscaping.

Western Australian owned and operated builder Jaxon Construction has been appointed to deliver the Parkside project, with practical completion expected in November, 2015.

While launching the development, the Minster took the opportunity to meet some of the 100 workers being employed on the site, including four young apprentices.

The launch was attended by representatives from Jaxon and the Department of Housing, including Director General Grahame Searle, who hosted the event, and Jaxon CEO David Dodd.

The Government’s New Living urban renewal program has already seen the redevelopment of the former Maniana housing estate into a vibrant, attractive precinct in Queens Park.

Since 2010, more than 17,000 affordable opportunities have been delivered under the Affordable Housing Strategy 2010-2020 in collaboration with public, private and not-for-profit sector partners.

Updates on Parkside at Queens Park can be found on the project’s webpage.
