Community Housing

What is Community Housing?

Community Housing is rental housing managed by local government or non-government not-for-profit organisations offering:

• Security of tenure
• Affordable housing responsive to local needs
• Tenant involvement in the management of their housing.

The Department of Housing and Works provides four main Community Housing programs:

• Community Housing Program
• Joint Venture Housing Program
• Community Disability Housing Program
• Crisis Accommodation Program

Housing is provided according to the requirements of individuals with special attention to location, design and support needs.
